We want our guest to have a worry-free vacation while at Tree Houses. Since we are away from the crowded La Fortuna area, we pride ourselves with putting together fun itineraries that are logistically correct to save you driving time.
We have 16 years of great relationships and work directly with all the outfitters. With them and our guests, both are guaranteed we do not up-charge for any tour or activity we book.
We will work with you to put together a custom itinerary that will be right for you and your family. Also, we will tell you if somethings are better to do on your own and off the beaten path.

Horseback Riding
They farm is on the base of Arenal Volcano. They have well taken care of and beautiful horses. This is a combination of horseback riding and hiking with beautiful scenery. This ride takes you all the way up to the La Fortuna Waterfall through green areas of pastures and jungle. The views of San Carlos valleys and the tropical forest, that surround the waterfall, are spectacular.
You can Also opt for riding on their farm and not going to the waterfall. Both are beautiful rides.
WATERFALL CANYON RAPPEL
Experience nature like never before in this truly immersive activity, our incredible safe, fun guides will take you deep inside the canyon to experience a series of waterfall rappels, ziplines and beautiful nature. Safely descend waterfalls while you hone your skills as a new or experienced rappeler. This tour is nothing like you have ever done before and don’t want to miss. We limit our group sizes 14, not 40 to 50 like the other companies is the area. You will come into close contact with nature and able to see unique crevice that our mountains have to offer. Our hike will give you the opportunity to appreciate nature from a different perspective-from right inside of the rain forest as you follow the path of a small creek.

This zipline tour is an adrenaline packed trip in a splendid tropical rain forest in the foothills of Arenal Volcano; this tour is guaranteed adventure and extreme fun, you can also enjoy their facilities, where you will find a perfect place for children. With swimming pools, restaurants, and a very familiar environment.
HIKING IN NATURE WITH JUAN CARLOS
Juan Carlos is a naturalist who loves his country. He’s works only with Tree Houses guest; this is a great advantage as his groups are always small and the majority the time private to your group.
He offers different hikes around San Carlos and Arenal, so you can choose the area and hike of your preference. All transportation is included, and he picks up right here at Tree Houses
One Day Adventure: Visit the Hanging Bridges, La Fortuna Waterfall, lunch and sometime in La Fortuna. Then off to the Arenal Volcano hike, hot springs, and Dinner. This is a great way to see the main attractions of Arenal with a wonderful guide
Half Day: Volcano Hike, Hot Springs, Lunch or Dinner are included
Rio Celeste Hike: Hike along the blue river and rain forest to the spectacular Rio Celeste Waterfall. Lunch is included
Pozo Azul: One of the most spectacular hikes is Cascadas Pozo Azul. This Property has a handful of different waterfalls, some for swimming and other so big, they will leave you in awe. Cascadas Pozo Azul is best know for having the largest waterfall in the area
Juan Castro Blanco:
Truly get off the beaten and hike through an unspoiled park that is not on typical tourist route. Juan Carlos knows the area in here are different routes to take, from moderate to challenging. Bird and wildlife watching can be amazing and at the park.

- He has worked with Tree Houses for the past 14 years. As every drive is different, he wants to make sure the provides the best service to every client.
- Please feel free to let him know if you need to stop along the way for restrooms, snacks, lunch on long trips or even an ATM. There is grocery store near Tree Houses Hotel.
- If the driver is picking you up from the airport, he will be there waiting for you holding a sign with your name on it.
- If there are any changes with your flight, please let us know, so that we can make sure the driver is aware of any delays.
- If he is picking you up at a hotel, please wait for him at reception.
- If your pickup is at Hotel Tree Houses, he will gladly pick you up at your tree house, to help you with your luggage.
- His vehicles are comfortable, fully insured and have tourist permits according to Costa Rica laws.

CANO NEGRO RIVER TRIP
The Cano Negro is one of the most important wetlands and natural refuges in Costa Rica. This vast territory of wetlands, lagoons, rivers and creeks constitutes an important habitat for birds, reptiles, fish and mammals. This tour is at best part of the Caño Negro Wetlands, a secret spot where most of the animals inhabit and also the part where nature is more lush, virgin and impressive. Unique Caño Negro is one of the most amazing trips for incredible bird watching (during the dry season) and wildlife in Costa Rica. Our tour leaves La Fortuna at 7:50 a.m. On the way to Caño Negro you will have the opportunity to learn about agriculture plantations that Costa Rica raise such as yuca, papaya, pineapple, sugar cane and orange. Then we will arrive to a restaurant called "El Caiman", where we will enjoy a welcome drink & snack, after that we will start the trip by boat on Rio Frio (cold) river. On our 2 ½ hours journey we will see Egrets, Herons, Monkeys, Caimans, Iguanas, bats and a variety of flora. A delicious Costa Rican typical meal will be waiting for us, back to El Caiman Restaurant.
SAFARI FLOAT ON THE PENAS BLANCAS RIVER
Do not miss this excellent tour of the calm waters of the Peñas Blancas river, floating on our inflatable rafts. You will experience a relaxing half day tour, led by one of our bilingual naturalist guides. It will provide a safe environment and highlight the beautiful flora and fauna of this region. Animals like sloths, monkeys, toucans, crocodiles, lizards, and turtles can cross your path, even seeing the colorful world of tropical birds. All our Safari Tours end at the Ranch "La Cocina de Tita Yolanda” enjoying a typical snack.
ATV OFF ROAD TOURS
This tour begins on a private farm through trails over cattle pastures, small streams, and part of the mountain. Almost the entire route you can appreciate the spectacular view of the Arenal Volcano. After enjoying an excellent ride, full of adrenaline and adventure, we will go to the Arenal River, passing through the town of La Guaria. At the river we will enjoy a drink, a well-deserved rest, and a refreshing swim.
Rafting class 2/3 on the Balsa
Costa Rica is known for world-class rafting and the Balsa River is just fun!
This river wind through spectacular greenery, so between rapids you might be treated to sights of monkey's toucans and other Costa Rica wildlife species. At the halfway point you will take a break while your guides prepare some delicious snacks and tropical fruit on the riverbank, so you can refuel, surrounded by the serene and majestic beauty of the rainforest.
After your snack, it is time to hit the rapids again for more heart pumping excitement.
Chocolate-making & Cacao Immersion
Throughout the workshop, you will discover the intricate art of chocolate-making and learn about the cultural and social impact of cacao in history. The tour will begin with a brief walk through our organic farm where you will be introduced to cacao trees, exotic fruit trees, species and more. You will then use ancient Mayan tool and recipes to freshly grind cacao to make two traditional cacao drinks. Finish your chocolate experience by molding your own cholate bars to take home. You can also extend your tour with a long-established Costa Rican coffee preparation, they will show you how to prepare coffee, empanadas and tortillas, in the most traditional way, perfect for coffee lovers.
Rafting class 3/4 on the Sarapiqui River
Experience the thrill of White-Water Rafting. Costa Rica is known for world-class rafting and the Class III-IV rapids of the Rio Sarapiqui won't disappoint. Fed by waters from Poas Volcano, you will raft 13 km (9 miles) through dramatic scenery on your adrenaline-packed ride on continuous white-water rapids. After have a great Costa Rican lunch not far from the river.
Visiting a Rescue Center
At the animal rescue center, you will be able to learn about our animals while helping them in their rehabilitation. You will be part of the rescue program, thus living a unique experience. Monkeys, sloths, toucans, parrots, armadillos, ocelots, iguanas and many more are in the process of rehabilitation. Our goal is to return these precious animals to their natural habitats.

You will enjoy the vibrant adventure in the middle of the jungle. This zipline has 12 cables full adrenalin. The views are incredible as you fly between canyons and the treetops, over waterfalls with the most majestic views of the Arenal area.
Cloud Forest Zipline
This is the favorite zipline of the Tree Houses, full adrenalin and beauty. Zipline though the jungle on cables up to 500 meters long. Tarzan Swing and Superman Line These guys are great with kids and safety. The settings is beautiful, and you will fly over the Cataraticas River through the amazing jungle of Costa Rica.
